How to Prepare for a Boudoir Session
Tips on what to bring with you:
1. Plan your outfits at least two weeks before. This is incase you have to go out and buy a new outfit, you can spend time finding the perfect one.
2. If you're going to wax, do so at least three days before your session day to avoid redness and irritation the day of.
3. Water, water, water. I know this is hard for some (me included, girl. I get it!), but it really is so important for your skin.
4. Food. Please make sure you eat before your session! This will keep your energy levels up and you'll just feel better all around.
5. Avoid alcohol the night before. I personally haven't been hungover too often, but when I am, it's rough. I can't imagine being in front of the camera hungover.. it would take the fun out of the entire session. Party as hard as you want afterwards! (Stay safe while doing so of course)
6. Bringing props to your session makes it more personal. Here’s a few ideas on things you can bring to your session:
-
Roses
-
A silky robe
-
His jersey
-
Sweets (a cupcake)
-
Your veil
-
Heels

Tips on what NOT to bring with you:
1. Tight outfits or outfits that are difficult to put on - that bra you used to love that now digs into your shoulders? Those tight skinny jeans? Nope! Leave those at home. We want to avoid any marks or impressions on the skin from tight clothes. And there’s nothing worse than struggling for several minutes to get into an outfit just because you think it’s the way to go after seeing someone else wear it and thinking it was adorable.
2. Negative self-talk - you’re here to CELEBRATE you! Not put yourself down. I know the positive self-talk can be hard, because I struggle with it too - we all do! But you need to let it go during the session.
3. Unrealistic expectations - you find a photo online that you like, but the model looks nothing like you. We can get the pose for sure, but it won’t look exactly the same because it isn’t supposed to! You’re unique in your own way so your images will be too
4. Overly heavy make up - the simpler, the better in this case (unless we’re going for a rock chick vibe, which I have done!). You’re naturally beautiful already, don’t cover that natural beauty with so much make up that you don’t look like your true self.

Frequently Asked Questions
It should be done, first and foremost, for you! If you have a partner, the photos from a session can definitely be gifted to them, but YOU should always be the main reason you book a session:
-
As a confidence booster
-
Because you love yourself
-
You're celebrating a milestone
-
So you can feel comfortable with yourself just the way you are
-
Because you deserve it!
Why choose to do a boudoir photography session?
This is 100% up to you! Whether you want to just go half with a t-shirt and panties, or full on nude, you make the decision! I may ask you if you’d like to do full or implied nude for your session and you have every right to say NO! We could work our way up to full or implied throughout the hour we have together if you’re ready, but only if you say so.
My job is to make you feel comfortable, not to push you so far out of your comfort zone that you never want to book again.
How revealing does my session need to be?
Boudoir isn't just about lingerie. It’s about feeling empowered and seeing your true beauty. You can wear your favourite dress, a body suit or a robe if that’s what makes you feel comfortable. Here’s a few ideas on different outfits that you can wear for your session:
-
Jeans & an unbuttoned button up
-
Jeans & a bra
-
A sports jersey
-
Shorts & a bra
-
Your favourite sweater or an oversized shirt (steal your partner’s if the photos are a gift )
-
A robe
What do I wear to my session?
This session is first and foremost for YOU. No one else has to see the images - this includes your partner if you so choose. This is why I have a separate contract for model releases. Because you only sign the release if YOU are okay with your photos being shared. I can order you prints, canvases and books so you can display them however you want, but if you don’t give ME permission to share, I won’t. That’s a promise.
Are the photos kept private and confidential?
If that is what you want/need to feel empowered, then you bet I do! We can also do implied nude as well. My goal is to make you comfortable throughout your entire session and if nude photos are a step you aren't ready to take, that is 100% up to you.
**This option is only available to females
Do you do nude photos?
Honestly, I've said this myself! But girl, no! No, you don't. You're beautiful just the way you are, right this second. And that's what boudoir sessions are for: celebrating yourself in all your raw beauty, right now. Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle, babe! Especially not yourself!
I want to book a session with you, but should l Iose some weight first?
You will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within 2-3 weeks (sometimes less depending on the season). You can download all the photos from the gallery.
When will I get my photos?
Absolutely! If you need the extra moral support, bring them along. I just ask that they keep their phone away (no behind the scenes) during the session.
Can I bring a friend to my session?
You will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within 2-3 weeks (sometimes less depending on the season). You can download all the photos from the gallery.
